Recap of 2020 Headline News – Eskulap Beauty News.
There is always this time of year when you feel like time is speeding up. You want to grasp each second if it. 2020 has been tough for everybody. Apart from political events that shook the world some of these stories will continue into 2021 and beyond. So today we are doing a quick recap of 2020.
A few years ago stories appeared asking whether 2016 was the worst year ever. Well, 2020 has 2016 covered.
Some headline news this year include: The U.S. Senate Acquitting Donald Trump of Impeachment Charges. Normally this kind of news would be on top of the list. But in 2020, it only just makes the top ten. Donald Trump as the third president in U.S. history joins the impeached crowd with Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton.
Elections in Belarus cause protests for democracy. On 9th of August 2020, Mr Lukashenko claimed he had won the country’s presidential election, entitling him to a sixth term in office. Thousands immediately took to the streets to protest what they saw as a stolen election.
Tensions between Iran and the US flare nuclear deal divisions. I don’t even want to comment on this one. The bad blood between Teheran and Washington still persists.
Climate disruptions continue. Wildfires, frequent storms and intense droughts. 2020 began with Australia’s worst fire season ever, with 6% of the country in flames and nearly three million animals killed.
And of course the number one topic COVID 19 World Health Organization estimates that around 10 percent of the world’s population had already contracted COVID-19. By the end of the year 1.7 million people had died from it. Global economy may have contracted by around 4 percent. And just recently a new Coronavirus variant is being disclosed to the public causing even greater disruptions worldwide. Likely this will not end in 2021.
