Ageing is a process that considers all of us.
With age the cheeks start to flatten and migrate downwards. This process is related to our anatomy and fat compartments located on the cheeks.
Fat pads are an important feature of the face and during ageing they can change their shape and position. This can cause our cheeks to press on the nasolabial folds making them more visible.
Another process that can contribute to the volume loss is the resorption of the cheekbones. This in turn can mnake the tear trough more pronounced because the cheek and the fat pads no longer provide support to the area. Wrinkling over the cheeks is very often the sign of excessive volume loss.
What is the ideal look for my cheeks?
The cheeks have an ‘S’ shaped curve that is natural and underlines the curvature and shape of our faces. The ideal proportions can be sometimes defined using a mathematical formula but every face is different and the light bounging off our skin can also determine the aesthetics of the face.
Cheek fillers can be used to pronounce the area that should be in maximal projection to enable us to produce more prominent and appealing face.
