Sculptra, alternative to dermal fillers.

What does Sculptra do to your face?

How long does Sculptra last for?

Research performed at Sculptra laboratories show effects lasting up to 25 months in some patients. The results that we can achieve depend on the severity of the nasolabial folds and wrinkles.

What can I expect to happen at a Sculptra session?

During the initial assessment at Eskulap Clinic in Greenford our staff will ask you about your medical history to find out if Sculptra is the best solution to achieve the results that you are after. Tell us if you are takin any immunosuppressants or have had any laser or chemical peels. Usually with these type of procedures a local anaesthetic can be used. Make sure that you are not wearing makeup on the day as it will have to be removed.

During the planning stage the injection area will be mapped and antiseptic solution will be applied to sanitize the area. Small amounts of product are injected into the skin or in the subcutaneous layers. Some injection techniques use massage as means to further improve effectiveness of the procedure and some include a cold compress to minimise swelling. Regardless of the technique used by our staff the patient is advised that massage is necessary to obtain best results. Massaging the area allows even and natural distribution of the product over a larger area reducing contour and volume deficiency. A moisturizer can be used to allow the patient smooth circular motion when massaging the area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for 5 consecutive days after the procedure.

What can go wrong with Sculptra?

Most of our patients experience slight swelling in the injection area. The injection site immediately after the procedure can become more red and tender than the surrounding tissue. Pain, bruising can be seen along with itching and lumps. These are not complications, but normal reactions after Sculptra treatment, which should resolve after a few days.

    Is Sculptra better than filler?

As with any procedure it is important not to overcorrect volume loss. This takes on a new meaning when it comes to Sculptra. Full effect after Sculptra take a few weeks to surface and contour defects are expected to gradually improve during that time. That is why the answer to the above is: Sculptra is different from filler. Unlike other dermal fillers, Sculptra provides a gradual improvement. During the procedure any defects should not be visibly corrected or over corrected. Immediately after the procedure the patient may be under the impression that the wrinkles are gone, that is because of the swelling caused by injection. It is normal that after a few days the swelling is reduced and the patient may see the original wrinkle reappear. However, the real effects of Sculptra appear slowly. It is important to consult our staff as more product might be needed to fully achieve your desired result. Other important injection tips and techniques that are critical to achieving spectacular results and maintaining patient safety are only available to medical personnel trained at official Sculptra distributor sessions.

    How painful are Sculptra injections?

At Eskulap clinic we use a special topical anaesthetic cream to minimise any pain (NOT EMLA 😊). The cream is made especially for us by a Greek laboratory specialising in anaesthetic ointments. In clinical studies, Sculptra scientists recorded some pain after first injection in 71% of all patients. 14% of all patients presented moderate pain. All patients did not feel any discomfort 24 hours after the procedure.

What are my other options for treatment?

There are many alternatives on the market. Various companies produce dermal fillers to supplement the needs of the aesthetic medicine population. Book your consultation at our London office to see which product is best for you.
