Remove varicose veins using sclerotherapy and doppler ultrasound.

What is the procedure for removing varicose veins and sclerotherapy?

No special preparation for non-invasive sclerotherapy is required. Don’t put any makeup on as it will have to be removed. Inform our staff about any medications or ointments that you are taking before the procedure. You should be well hydrated, don’t epilate the limbs immediately before the procedure. At our greenford clinic we start sclerotherapy with an assessment and ultrasound examination – vein doppler – during which blood vessels and veins are examined, prepared for marking and closing. The doctor then determines the concentration of the fluid that will be injected into the vein.

The patient lies down during the procedure. To help close the blood vessel lumen by emptying the vein of blood, you may be asked to raise the treated limb above the level of the heart. The next step is to inject the sclerosant into the lumen of the vein. Our staff make punctures in the previously indicated places, and the number of punctures depends on the thickness of the vein and the size of the treated area (there may be many of them when treating varicose veins in the legs). After the procedure, there is no need to put on a pressure dressing. If you decide to apply the compression it accelerates the closure of blood vessels and prevents the decongestant from reaching a healthy tissues, which is important for maintaining proper circulation.

After surgery for varicose veins, sclerotherapy.

• do not use the sauna or hot tub, jacuzzi, as this can promote the formation of small, dilated red veins,
• do not sunbathe, avoid strenuous physical activity and exposure of the lower limbs to strong sunlight for two weeks after sclerotherapy treatment, as this may lead to permanent brown discoloration of the skin – loose clothing covering the lower limbs is recommended in the post-treatment period,
• if discoloration appears after the sclerotherapy treatment, we recommend the treatment with chemical peels and whitening substances.

Chronic venous insufficiency, indications – where does it come from, what is it manifested and how to recognize it?

Doctors ae Eskulap Clinic define chronic venous insufficiency as venous congestion syndrome. This can be caused by a disturbance in venous blood flow manifested by venous return or blood stagnation. The main risk factors that contribute towards varicose veins are advanced age, female gender, dietary obesity, genetically determined weak walls and valves of the veins, pregnancy, and working in a sitting or standing position.

If you experience symptoms such as heaviness and a feeling of overflow of the lower limbs, it is worth making an appointment for an ultrasound – Doppler examination of veins and arteries in London.
