What collagen injections are really like for your skin?

We have healthy, young and supple skin thanks to the main building material, collagen. Unfortunately, with age, its production decreases, fibres become weaker and weaker and our skin is less elastic. After the age of 25, we begin to lose as much as 1.5% connective tissue per year, resulting in the creation of the first facial lines.

What does the collagen procedure look like?

Collagen has a liquid form and is applied by means of a thin and very short (4 mm) mesotherapy needle. Qualified personnel leave small product deposits across the treated area of the skin. After collagen is injected, the patient’s skin is subjected to a gentle massage. Total therapy consists of 2 to 4 treatments depending on the doctor’s recommendations and the patient’s skin condition. The first effects are visible after 7-14 days. Four treatments are recommended with a 2-week interval to achieve the full effect of the therapy. After this time, the difference in skin elasticity and density is clearly visible. The effect of a younger look can be enjoyed from 12 to 18 months.

The treatment is not invasive and does not require any recovery period. After the procedure, redness, burning, slight swelling, itching, or tenderness may appear at the application site. All these symptoms do not need the intervention of a doctor – they disappear spontaneously after the procedure or within 3-7 days.

How do Collagen filler Injections work?

The first effects, such as skin tension, tightening, brightening and alleviation of irritation, may appear after 7 days and become more visible throughout the duration of therapy. The full effect of treatment (tensioning and tightening of the skin, thickening of flaccid sagging skin, filling of fine wrinkles and skin defects, improvement in the skin’s elasticity) is obtained within 4 weeks of the end of therapy. It lasts for approx. 12 months. Then, the recommended maintenance therapy includes one treatment per quarter.
