What is a Thread Lift?
A thread lift is often referred to as a “non-surgical facelift.” It involves the insertion of medical-grade threads into the subcutaneous tissue of the face and neck. These threads mechanically lift the skin and improve tension.
Unlike a traditional facelift, which cuts away loose skin, a thread lift stitches the skin up slightly, fighting gravity and tightening the face. It is a fast, safe technique that requires no cutting of the skin.
How Does It Work? The Dual Action
The idea behind the Thread Lift Barb PDO treatment is twofold:
- Immediate Mechanical Lift: Immediately after the treatment, wrinkles are smoothed and facial contours are improved. The introduced threads mechanically lift sagging facial tissue.
- Biological Stimulation (Neo-collagenesis): In the weeks following treatment, the biomedical properties of polydioxanone (PDO) kick in. After about 14 days, the threads stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin—proteins responsible for skin firmness.
Did You Know? Polydioxanone is a strong synthetic fiber consisting of one or two twisted solid fibers. It is fully absorbed and dissolved by the tissue over time, making it incredibly safe.
