See how dermal fillers can augment your cheeks – Move Slider

Dermal fillers are used by our specialists to shape, add volume and augment the cheeks. It is possible to use hyaluronic fillers to compensate for lost volume that occurs with ageing or weight loss.

Fillers can be used to restore lost volume and prevent the flattening of facial contours. The size of the cheeks may not be proportional when comparing to other parts of the face.

Enhancing and improving facial balance and proportions can be achieved by injecting fillers into the cheeks to volumise and balance this part of the face. Because we loose cheek volume with age, other parts of the face such as the lower eyelid can become less appealing. By volumising the cheek it is possible to enhance the appearance of the eyelid.

The support of ligaments can be restored by using filler placed just under the lower eyelid. This helps to support the lower eyelid and can reduce the appearance of the so called eyebags. Visualization © Eskulap.co.uk

How can the cheeks loose volume with age?

What are the different ways of enhancing the cheeks?

There are a few ways that patients can choose when considering cheek augmentation. Filling the cheeks can be performed surgically by using cheek implants. However, this method is permanent and if a patients needs the option to reverse the effects of the treatment, dermal fillers are the way to go.

Dermal Fillers are the most common way that is chosen by patients to achieve cheek enhancement. The volume loss in the cheeks varies from patient to patient and different amounts of cheek fillers would be required to achieve the desired degree of enhancement.

There are other methods available at Eskulap Clinics. Fat transfer is a new method that involves your own fat as filler to be in jected into the cheeks. The autologous fat transfer is a bit more invasive as it requires a special kind of liposuction harvesting the fat. In comparison to fat transfer, hyaluronic acid gives patients a firm foundation because of the viscosity it provides. However, the fat can be distributed into more areas of the face during the procedure achieving total face rejuvenation.

Cheek Fillers? How does it look like?

During the initial assessment specialists at Eskulap Clinics gather information from the patient and determine the best course of action. As swelling and bruising may appear after the procedure it is important to plan ahead and reserve some time for recovery.

Our staff use a fine micro-cannula to insert cheek fillers. This method enables us to maneuver the cannula while pushing aside blood vessels which in turn reduces the risk of bruising, swelling or arterial injection.

Any cheek filler injections are done using utmost care and with careful observation of the changes in volume. No one is symmetrical and disproportions between left and right sides of our body are natural. Using fillers we aim to minimise disproportions and create symmetry.

How often should I have fillers done?

The kind of cheek fillers and the dosage is determined by size of the cheeks in proportion to the rest of the face, age and the degree of volume loss already present.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are most commonly distributed in 1mL syringes. Manufacturers state that effectiveness of fillers lasts 6-12 months. However, MRI scans performed on patients indicate that fillers are still present even 10 years after the treatment. Frequent procedures, filling of the cheeks and face can easily lead to over-filling. Cheek fillers can displace out of the initial injection area into surrounding cavities. This can create an illusion that the filler has already dissolved. Specialists at Eskulap Clinics recommend to inject cheeks using only a small amount during each visit. The rest of the product can be distributed to other areas of the face.

It is advised to visit the Clinic every year to review the effects of the treatment and repeated if required.
