Since hyaluronidase is an enzyme that occurs naturally in small amounts in the human body, hyaluronic acid fillings naturally decrease after several to several months. Sometimes, however, the effects after fillers are so unsatisfactory or may endanger health that they should be removed as soon as possible. The solution could be a treatment aimed at quick dissolution of hyaluronic acid. Properly applied hyaluronidase guarantees the effects almost immediately. Initially, however, they are hardly visible due to the accompanying temporary swelling. The actual result is available for inspection after about a week after the procedure. Due to the dissolving properties of hyaluronic acid implanted subcutaneously, a properly selected dose of hyaluronidase can be used for both partial and complete dissolution of the filling. The skin can therefore mostly regain its natural shape from before the filling or remain slightly deformed. This allows for the correction of the excessive amount of filler in cases of unintentional hypercorrection or over-correction of various areas, as well as the treatment of other complications occurring after the use of hyaluronic acid.

    How does filler dissolve look like?

    Dissolving hyaluronic acid is performed by a properly trained aesthetic medicine doctor. It uses a very fine needle which injects a small, precise amount of the enzyme subcutaneously at the site of hyaluronic acid application, such as the mouth, eye area, cheeks and nose. The procedure is relatively short – it takes an average of 15 to 20 minutes. It does not require anesthesia, but may temporarily cause discomfort. The enzyme breaks down hyaluronic acid molecules and is naturally metabolized and then excreted by the body. However, it is important to perform an allergic test first in order to rule out a possible allergic reaction.

    Some people may not be able to dissolve hyaluronic acid, especially if they are allergic to the venom of hymenoptera such as wasps, bees or hornets. Then, if it is still necessary to administer hyaluronidase, the procedure is performed with full shock protection and with particularly high vigilance of doctors.
