Are you bothered by wrinkles and fine lines on your face? These signs of aging can be a source of frustration and self-consciousness for many people. Fortunately, there are several wrinkle reduction and anti-wrinkle injection procedures available that can help you achieve a more youthful appearance.

In this article, we will discuss the causes of wrinkles, importance of consultation, various treatment options, how to choose a reputable clinic or specialist, and follow-up care and maintenance. This article objectively and without exaggeration presents product properties while promoting rational use.

Anti wrinkle injections are a simple method of non-surgical smoothing of furrows between the eyebrows (frown lines), forehead, fine mimic wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet) and on the nose (bunny nose wrinkles). Skillfully performed treatment using clostridium toxin will help to reduce existing wrinkles, but also minimise the emergence of new ones – while maintaining your natural facial expression.

Continuous activity of facial muscles including facial expression causes the skin to flex which results in the deepening of the natural folds of the skin. That’s how wrinkles form, and with time they get pressed into the skin. It’s very hard to get rid of them. We can help to smooth wrinkles by relaxing the contracting muscle. During the procedure it is possible to lift the droopy eyebrows and get rid of the tired face and tired eyes effect. Success is a mindset – start the wrinkle therapy today. Causes of Wrinkles

Patients at Eskulap Clinic often don’t realize that wrinkles are a natural part of one’s ageing process. During the consultation we explain that the creation of wrinkles can be accelerated by factors, such as genetics, exposure to UV rays, pollution, smoking, excessive facial expressions and poor nutrition.

With age our skin becomes less elastic, tissues that include collagen and elastin break down causing the skin to wrinkle and sag. UV rays and pollution can damage collagen and elastin fibres contained in our skin and cause premature ageing. Smoking is known to speed up aging by reducing blood flow to the skin. Facial expressions, such as squinting and frowning, can cause more fine lines and wrinkles to develop over time.

Poor nutrition is a known factor that can contribute to wrinkle creation. Your diet that is low in essential vitamins and nutrients can cause skin cells to become dehydrated and break down. There is scientific evidence which suggests that excessive sugar consumption may be linked to patients presenting reduced skin quality. Some sources include Glycation – a natural process that occurs in our bodies. It seems it can cause sugar to bind to proteins, damaging cells and leading to deeper wrinkles.

Studies have found that a deterioration of the skin’s microbiome can be linked to an increase in wrinkle depth due to premature aging of the skin and its loss of elasticity. Other research has associated dehydration, either due to lack of fluid intake or too many dehydrating agents, with wrinkles and premature aging of skin, particularly in the delicate areas around the eyes and mouth.

Certain medical conditions can also be at the root of wrinkles. For instance, those with autoimmune conditions, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, may experience wrinkles because of the skin inflammation and skin cell damage that can result from the condition. Cushing’s syndrome is an adrenal disease that causes the body to produce too much cortisol and can trigger skin thinning and promotion of wrinkles. Other medical conditions, such as diabetes, dysautonomia, and malnutrition, can contribute to skin degradation.

Wrinkle Treatment Options

There are several anti-wrinkle treatment options available at our Clinic, including injections, dermal fillers, wrinkle reduction facials, and home remedies. Wrinkle prevention is possible through regular use of sunscreen that is rated SPF 30 or higher. It helps to reduce UV rays penetrating our skin and damaging collagen, elastin and underlying tissues. Antioxidants, vitamins, and nutrients through the use of topical creams and serums can help to keep the skin healthy.

Eating a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables and avoiding excessive sugar consumption can be beneficial. Keeping the skin hydrated and drinking at least the recommended eight glasses of water a day can help. Managing stress levels can benefit the skin, as stress can trigger inflammation and the release of cortisol, which can lead to wrinkle development.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections, are among the most popular and effective procedures. These injections contain neuromodulators, which relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles to form. The procedure is quick and virtually painless, and the results can last for several months. However, it’s essential to book a consultation and choose a reputable clinic or specialist who is experienced in administering anti-wrinkle injections.

The main ingredient in these products are all certain type of toxin. Responsible for anti-aging effects by paralysing the underlying muscles. One brand of neuromodulator is the most popular off all as it has been around for a long time. Other products made by different manufacturers can have slightly different properties. Some spread out more than others, allowing to cover a larger area and achieve a more even result. However, the diffusion of the product may not be beneficial for patients where the doctor is targeting specific areas of the muscle. Additionally some products are manufactured without the extra proteins found in competitive products.

Generally neuromodulators are a fast and effective procedure, with results usually visible within a few days and lasting for several months. It works well for frown lines and crow’s feet, as well as for wrinkles that appear as a result of ageing. Some neuromodulators might not be as popular as their competitors. This is mainly due to less marketing funds. This does not mean that they are worse and one can’t achieve great results.

As with every procedure common side effects can include pain, swelling, redness at the injection site, as well as temporary muscle weakness. If not injected correctly, can cause a ‘frozen’ look. Side effects can also include drooping eyelids, headaches and neck pain.

The above comparison does not mean that one product is better than the other. Furthermore, all side effects and complications listed above are complementary. This means that the same complications can appear after using each one of the listed products.

Doctor’s opinion is that the best injectable treatment for wrinkle reduction depends on a variety of factors, including individual preferences, the type of wrinkles being treated and the patient’s desired outcome. The best way to determine which one is the best for someone’s individual needs is to book a consultation with one of our doctors at Eskulap Clinic in London to review treatment options.

No matter which injectable treatment is chosen, patients should be aware that the results will not be permanent and will require regular maintenance to maintain the desired effects. Some patients may experience side effects such as pain, swelling and temporary muscle weakness, so it is important to be aware of these potential risks before beginning treatment.

Description of the wrinkle reduction procedure

Before treatment

After treatment

After wrinkle correction treatment, you should not head down, go to sleep (lied down), undergo skin care, perform facial skin massage, drink alcohol and fly by plane for 4-6 hours.

How long does the effect last?

The first effects appear about 2-3 days after the treatment. Full effect is visible after 10 – 14 days and lasts up to 4 to 6 months. After this period, the treatment should be repeated. With subsequent treatments, the effect lasts longer. After 10-14 days, after just one wrinkle treatment, the skin looks younger. Often wrinkles become shallow and less visible due to the additional effect of the toxin. This effect is a result of muscle relaxation. Muscles for several months after after treatment did not make substantial movements. This eventually causes the wrinkles to become shallow.

    History of Clostridium Botulinum

At Eskulap Clinic in London and Birmingham aesthetic medicine is our priority. We publish educational campaigns aimed at the general public to inform about methods that can be used in medicine to obtain a desired result often dealing with problems our patients are facing. Today we bring you a short history lesson of botulinum toxin that starts in 1895.

In 1895 Clostridium botulinum bacteria that produces the botulinum toxin is isolated and identified. It took more than 30 years for the botulinum toxin to be purified by scientists for the first time. In 1950 researchers discovered that the injection of botulinum toxin into an overactive muscle tissue results in reduced muscle activity. In 1960’s the toxin has been standardized for therapeutic procedures. In 1980’s botulinum toxin is used for the first time to treat crossed eyes problem and uncontrollable blinking. From there, clostridium botulinum quest to become the top minimally invasive procedure rapidly accelerated as in 1989 the FDA approves botulinum toxin type A (now called Botox) for treatment of crossed eyes, uncontrollable blinking and hemifacial spasm.

In 1993 botulinum toxin has proven useful in the treatment of achalasia, a spasm of the lower esophagus. 2002, FDA approves the use of wrinkle reducing product for frown lines between eyebrows and in 2004 granted approval in the United States to treat severe underarm sweating. The situation is developing fast as in 2010 it received the FDA’s approval for treatment of chronic migraines. To this day botulinum toxin is being investigated as a potent substance having positive results in treatment of other medical conditions.

    Toxin by the Numbers

Botulinum treatments usually take approximately less than 15 minutes and most of the patients observe the results and an improvement within one week of treatment.

The average wrinkle reduction treatment lasts 4 months and the average age of a patient is 40-59 years old. You should start thinking about wrinkle reduction treatment when you see first signs of wrinkles appearing on your forehead, between or around the eyes. The earlier we start the more chance that the wrinkles will not become embedded into our skin as it is very difficult to remove them completely.

Botulinum toxin is in the top five of the most popular and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures performed worldwide. Second place goes to Hyaluronic Acid followed by laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels. Average cost of wrinkle reduction treatment is 380 pounds.

    Follow-up Care and Maintenance

After the procedure it is important to follow post-treatment advice carefully to ensure best results. In wrinkle reduction procedures it is vital you adopt healthy habits, like using sunscreen daily, avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep. Regular follow-up appointments at Eskulap aesthetic medicine clinic in London help maintain your results.

Toxin doesn’t like heat. Toxin doesn’t like changes in temperature. If you want to prolong the effectiveness of your anti-wrinkle procedure you should remember to minimise exposure to heat energy. Taking hot baths or showers can reduce the strength of the product. Avoid massaging the treatment area to maximise the results. Spa amenities like hot saunas and cold pools don’t play well with longevity of ani wrinkle maintenance intervals. Sunbeds and excessive sun exposure at the beach are generally not good for you skin. And are definitely not good to keep the wrinkle reduction results for long. Remember, heat reduces the effectiveness of the toxin.

    Quality and Safety

Wrinkle reduction techniques and anti-wrinkle injections are effective in reducing signs of aging and result in a more youthful appearance. With the right treatment plan and adequate aftercare, you can enjoy lasting results feeling more confident in your own skin. For the sake of your safety and well-being, in the clinic each treatment is preceded by a consultation.
